0.8 tons of fresh jujubes from Shanxi were exported to Australia for the first time.
Recently, 806.4 kilograms of winter dates passed the inspection and quarantine of the Yuncheng Customs under the Taiyuan Customs and were exported to Australia by sea, marking the first entry of Shanxi fresh dates into the Australian market. This follows the entry of apples, pears, and nectarines into the Australian market from Shanxi. The exported dates are from Linyi, produced by Shanxi Jufenglong Agriculture Co., Ltd. Linyi in Shanxi has a unique loess plateau climate and significant day-night temperature differences, resulting in winter dates that weigh over 20 grams each, with a sweetness of around 28°, thin skin, crisp flesh, and rich, sweet, and juicy taste. On August 1, 2023, the General Administration of Customs officially issued a notice regarding the phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh dates from China to Australia. In early September, the first batch of fresh dates from Cangzhou was shipped to Australia, initiating the export of Chinese fresh dates to Australia. The Linyi dates exported this time are located at 35 degrees north latitude, which is recognized and approved by Australia as a non-epidemic area for the oriental fruit fly, the false codling moth, and the melon fly north of 33 degrees north latitude, and thus do not require cold treatment before export/during transportation. 1.4 tons of domestically produced fresh dates were exported to Australia for the first time.
Recently, after inspection and approval by the Cangzhou Customs, which is under the Shijiazhuang Customs, 276 boxes weighing 1,452 kilograms of fresh winter dates from Bozhou Dongfang Fruit Products Co., Ltd. were shipped to Australia. This marks the first export of fresh Chinese dates to Australia. On August 30, this batch of winter dates cleared customs at the Port of Sydney and entered the Australian market. On August 1, the General Administration of Customs officially issued a notice regarding the phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh Chinese dates to Australia. Cangzhou, located at 38 degrees north latitude, is recognized and approved by Australia as a non-epidemic area for the citrus fruit fly, guava fruit fly, and melon fruit fly north of 33 degrees north latitude, and thus does not require cold treatment before export/during transportation. Cangzhou winter dates are renowned for their thin skin, small pits, high juice content, and fine, tender, and crispy flesh, with a planting history dating back nearly 3,000 years. In recent years, Cangzhou has vigorously promoted greenhouse cultivation techniques for winter dates, and through greenhouse temperature and humidity control technology, the winter dates grown can be marketed nearly two months earlier than those grown outdoors. Currently, Cangzhou winter dates have been exported to multiple countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Italy, and others.
