The Ministry of Agriculture is currently investigating 12 suspected cases of avian influenza in several Brazilian states. According to an update from the Respiratory and Nervous Syndrome Platform for Birds, made at 7 pm this Thursday, the 5th, none of the investigations are occurring in commercial farms. The ongoing cases involve domestic breeding and wild birds. Among the suspected domestic breeding cases are episodes involving subsistence chickens in the municipalities of Lábrea (AM), Castanhal (PA), Itaituba (PA), Macapá (AP), Itajuípe (BA), Novo Cruzeiro (MG), Capela de Santana (RS), and Westfalia (RS). Among the wild bird cases are investigations in Santo Antônio do Monte (MG), with a pigeon; Rurópolis (PA), with a garibaldi; Angra dos Reis (RJ), with an eyebrowed albatross, and Santos (SP), with a great white egret. The samples were collected after mandatory notifications, according to the health surveillance protocol, and laboratory results are still under analysis.
